The director of the National Statistics Office (ONE), Miosotis Rivas Peña, and the mayor of the municipality of Maimón, Ramón Alberto Cabral De La Cruz, agreed that this demarcation of the province of Monseñor Nouel, will be the headquarters for the census test within the framework of the preliminary activities of the tenth National Population and Housing Census (XCNPV).
The characteristics that justified this choice are that Maimón presents a distribution similar to the country average, such as: medium census complexity, average telecommunications, recruitment complexity, socioeconomic dynamism, and its population density similar to the national average, which makes it an ideal place to carry out the test.
“This procedure is a small census where all the technology that will be used for the XCNPV will be tested, and Maimón meets the characteristics because it is very similar to the national population, which makes it an ideal municipality to evaluate the situations we will face,” said Rivas Peña.
The test is an experimental process characterized by the application of new information technologies to optimize processes, which aims to verify all procedures and protocols for the census, such as staff selection and training, map updating and registration, according to a press release.
In addition, it will allow for rehearsing procedures, testing telecommunications technologies, evaluating the performance of the training strategy, verifying operational structure, and testing.
The information will be collected over 14 days, using mobile devices (tablets), and for the first time, those who cannot give the interview will be given an online self-registration option.
