SANTO DOMINGO– Los Alcarrizos was the municipality that experienced the greatest growth in square meters of construction, when comparing the Building Supply Registry (ROE) study from 2019 and 2021 presented last week by the National Statistics Office (ONE). This district registered a 230.0% increase, going from 21,419.9 to 70,676.9 square meters.
In second place is Santo Domingo Oeste with an increase of 211.2%, which went from 19,569.2 m2 to 60,896.3 m2.
The research establishes that Santo Domingo Este decreased by 50.4%, Santo Domingo Norte and Santo Domingo de Guzmán by 8.8% and 0.5%, respectively
The survey of both studies maintained the same geographical coverage with a total of 4,181,098.0 m2 registered, of which the total construction was 3,051,314.0 m2, showing a decrease in its growth rate of 7.3%, the document states.
The construction sector's share of sales increased from 67.5% to 71.8%. Residential buildings represent 81.3% of the total, followed by commercial buildings, reflecting a change from the 2019 study, where office buildings held second place.
The area of saleable construction available for immediate sale increased by 126.5% compared to 2019 in all municipalities of the Metropolitan Area. The National District has the highest percentage of properties for sale at 70.6%, followed by Santo Domingo East with 15.3% of the units and 19.1% of the saleable construction area.
