SANTO DOMINGO- The Real Estate Registry (RI) and the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed) signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of integrating systems and streamlining processes in construction permits.
The agreement was signed by Ricardo José Noboa Gañán, General Administrator of the Real Estate Registry; and Minister Carlos Bonilla Sánchez, head of the Mivhed, and in it the parties commit to work together to reduce risks in real estate operations.
The agreement was signed with the presence of the presiding judge of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) and of the Judicial Council, Henry Molina, as a witness.
During the event, the president of the SCJ indicated that “the establishment of this framework for collaboration between the RI and the Ministry of Housing will have a positive impact on urban planning, the regulation of real estate projects, land use and the guarantee of strong institutional validation mechanisms.
For his part, Bonilla Sánchez indicated that “within the framework of this agreement, we have also made commitments that will strengthen the private construction sector. From the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MIVHED), we will provide an electronic means of verifying building permit data and documents that certify eligibility for low-cost housing.”.
In the agreement, signed in the SCJ auditorium, the Property Registry (RI) commits to providing, through its various departments, a technological service for verifying properties, including their location within the cadastral parcel system; and to providing an electronic verification tool so that the Ministry can validate the authenticity of the legal status certificates for properties submitted by its users.
For its part, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MIVHED) commits to facilitating an electronic verification tool for building permit data, allowing the Property Registry to verify the accuracy of the information for approved projects and download the approved permit booklet; to provide a verification tool for documents certifying eligibility for low-cost housing under Law No. 189-11 on Mortgage Market Development and Trusts; and to establish a single communication channel for coordinating the work of both institutions.
