SANTO DOMINGO – Residents of several communities in Santo Domingo Oeste and surrounding areas will no longer have to travel to more distant offices to complete procedures related to driver's licenses. The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) has opened a new office at the National Vehicle Retention Center (Cenarve), located at kilometer 20 of the Duarte Highway.
The information was released by the Presidency of the Republic and Intrant, entities that indicated that the opening seeks to bring services closer to citizens of Pedro Brand, Villa Altagracia, La Cuaba, Los Alcarrizos, Pantoja, Villa Linda and Palmarejo, among other localities.
Services concentrated in one place
According to the institutions, the new module will allow users to carry out various processes related to traffic and transportation in one place, such as license renewals, category changes, issuance of learner's permits and procedures for motor licenses.
The entity explained that the goal is to reduce waiting times and decongest other offices with high user demand.
Intrant's executive director, Milton Morrison, indicated that the initiative is part of the efforts to offer "closer, more agile and efficient" services to citizens.
Medical evaluations and theoretical exams
The new office will feature booths for medical evaluations, stations for theoretical exams, registration modules, and stations for capturing biometric data, authorities said.
In addition, Intrant reported that starting in July, a driving circuit is expected to be incorporated into these facilities, with the purpose of also offering the service of issuing licenses for the first time.
Authorities participated in the opening
During the inauguration, the Director General of the National Police, Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, praised the opening of the new office and highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination between institutions to expedite services aimed at the population.
The activity was also attended by the general director of Digesett, Pascual Cruz Méndez, who, along with Morrison and other officials, toured the facilities.
Operating Hours
The office will operate Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., although the schedule could be adjusted depending on demand and user flow, the entities indicated.
