SANTO DOMINGO.-The Dominican Federation of Chambers of Commerce (FEDOCÁMARAS) reported that in the first eight months of this year, 6,050 new companies have been created through the Single Window for Formalization, and 19 of the country's 32 Chambers already offer online services.
This was stated by the president of FEDOCÁMARAS, Manuel Aníbal García Núñez, at a meeting of the Board of Directors and the members of this federation in which they analyzed the progress of the process of digitization, leveling and standardization of the quality of the commercial registry.
García, who is also president of the Hermanas Mirabal Chamber of Commerce and Production, said that the federation is working on a manual of unified criteria to strengthen the transparency of the commercial registry with the advice of national experts.
"These advances are the result of the shared vision of all the Chambers, and they commit us to continue modernizing the system for the benefit of users," he said.
As host of the event, Michelle Tavares, president of the Santo Domingo Province Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that “digitalization is not just a change of platform. It is a cultural shift that brings our services closer to businesses and citizens.” She reported that her chamber leads the national ranking in digital transactions, with 47% of applications processed entirely online.
Lucile Houellemont, president of the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and Production and of the Fedocámaras Digital Governance Committee, explained that to guarantee an agile, fast and secure business registration service, daily analysis goals have been established, work cells for quality control, and the Fedocámaras Digital Analysis Center team grew from 22 analysts in May to 68 this August, an increase of 209%.
Houellemont also announced the upcoming implementation of a night shift to expand operational capacity and said that a technical consultancy is currently underway to diagnose and optimize the center's operation.
The national meeting, in which the presidents of the 32 Chambers of Commerce of the country participated, included the participation of Claudio Fernández, representing the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó.
