In April, 67 cruise ships will arrive at ports in the country

Pedernales is preparing to receive its second cruise ship in Cabo Rojo next Monday the 8th.

SANTO DOMINGO.- The executive director of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), Jean Luis Rodríguez, reported that this April Puerto Plata, Samaná, La Romana and the National District will receive hundreds of tourists arriving on the Caribbean coasts on 67 high-end cruise ships.

According to the port report prepared by Apordom, from April 1st to 30th of this year, the Taíno Bay, Amber Cov, Sans Souci Tourist Terminal and the Catalina Island Anchorage will receive foreign visitors who will activate the economy of these areas.

A press release indicates that the arrival of the ships began on Monday with the Norwegian Prima, Carnival Venezia, Norwegian Escape, Adventure Of The Seas; and will continue with Nieuw Stantendam, Liberty Of The Seas, MSC Seascape, Carnival Horizon, Carnival Vista, Caribbean Princess, Explorer Of The Seas, Valiant Lady, Carnival Mardi Gras, Celebrity Apex, MSC Meraviglia, among others.

The data presented corresponds to the projected schedule of cruise ship calls at the ports and anchorages of the Dominican Republic to be received in April 2024, with the clarifying note that there are some variables that may generate changes in it, such as route changes by the cruise line, weather conditions, as well as situations that may decrease or increase the number of calls.

Second cruise in Pedernales

The head of Apordom also said that the province of Pedernales is preparing to receive its second cruise ship at the port of Cabo Rojo next Monday, April 8th.

According to the press release, it is the Nieuw Amsterdam, a Holland America cruise ship, with a capacity of up to 2,106 visitors and 929 crew members on board, who will enjoy a package of ecological destinations in the province and region of Enriquillo, whose port was inaugurated in its first phase, on January 4 of this year.

In its first phase, Cabo Rojo consists of 200 meters of dock, plus a mooring knot, characteristics that allow it to receive several vessels at once in this location and that has all the conditions to receive vessels.

Cabo Rojo Port, located on the Southwest coast of the Dominican Republic, is considered the first cruise port in this area.
