SANTO DOMINGO.-The director general of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Héctor Porcella, confirmed that the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) initially audited the country's aviation system in just over a week.
He explained that the IDAC is currently in a 60-day waiting period for the auditors' second visit, during which they will evaluate the recommendations made. "After this first phase, we are fully confident that we will maintain Category 1 status, which is fundamental for international air operations and for confidence in the safety of national aviation," Porcella said.
The FAA audit is a critical process for any nation seeking to maintain air relations with the United States and is a key indicator of the quality and safety of its air operations. “Maintaining Category 1 status is a priority for the Dominican Republic,” Porcella stated, reiterating his confidence that the country will successfully pass this evaluation.
