SANTO DOMINGO.- The Mayor's Office of the National District reported that in coordination with the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), it has opened the Avenida de la Salud to expedite the transit of ambulances to the various hospitals, following the tragedy that occurred last night at the Jet Set nightclub, which as of 11:00 am this Tuesday had left a death toll of 27, according to the report of the authorities.
“We inform the public that in coordination with the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), the Mayor's Office of the National District has enabled the Avenida de la Salud to improve the flow of ambulances and rescue vehicles, following the tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub,” the Mayor's Office posted on the social network Instagram.
Following the events that occurred last night, the latest report from the Emergency Operations Center (COE) indicates that more than 160 people have been rescued, numerous streets, especially those located around the disaster, remain closed, while numerous ambulances enter and leave the scene transporting the rescued people.
Authorities recommend that the public drive with caution and that users of the Avenida la Salud area use the sidewalks and the internal area of Mirador Sur Park.
Alternate streets
Intrant reported from the early hours of the morning the closure of the section from Núñez de Cáceres Avenue to San Juan Bautista Street.
As alternative routes they recommended George Washington Avenue, Esther Rosario, El Coral Street, Cayetano Germosen, Paya Street, 30 de Mayo Highway, Italia, Republic of Ecuador, Heroes of Luperón.
