Government launches Central Unit for Tourist Procedures to expedite foreign investment

The user will manage their projects and requirements under a single profile, send data and make payments digitally, be able to verify each stage and have constant feedback and communication with the ministry areas without having to move from one place to another.

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Central Unit for Tourist Procedures, along with the creation of the single window, constitute the new commitments of the Dominican Government to streamline investment processes in the tourism sector, a cross-cutting pillar for the Dominican economy.

Yesterday, President Luis Abinader, along with the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, led the launch of this new unit, which seeks to strengthen the Zero Bureaucracy and Efficient Government program, promoting clear and transparent regulatory frameworks that improve the quality of regulations and management capacity in times of change, according to a statement sent to the media by the press office of the presidency.

The president reported that they are working to enable the citizen portal in September of this year, where everything can be integrated and a single window for each institution will be created, unifying 157 government procedures.

With this one-stop shop and the new Central Unit for Tourist Procedures platform, the president assured that the Ministry of Tourism will be able to approve all the permits required by a project from the public administration.

“We accomplish nothing by making this process quick and efficient if it has to go through other ministries and take a long time,” he concluded.

Central Unit for Tourist Procedures

It is a digital platform that connects state institutions linked to project approval and licensing processes in the tourism sector, reducing time and giving the user supervisory control over all their processes.

This translates into streamlined procedures between investors and the administration. Furthermore, it drives the institutional transformation of government, making it more agile and responsive to users.

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, highlighted that this project is part of the transformation and support for the entire sector, and for the partners who are committed to the Dominican Republic as a destination and work towards the development of tourism.

“An efficient administration is one that puts the citizen and the investor at the center. Working hand in hand is not about sitting in the same place, it's about everyone being involved and being able to influence the outcome, and that's what we're doing today.”.
