PUERTO PLATA.– The State Sugar Council (CEA) donated land in this province for the construction of a new municipal cemetery, the Atlantic Livestock City, and an oncology hospital.
During a meeting at the Puerto Plata governor's office, the donation of 25 acres of land for the construction of the new Montellano cemetery was formalized.
Mayor Hector Almonte thanked the CEA and the central government for their contribution, while noting that this project represents a significant step forward for the community.
At the same event, the honorary director of the CEA, Rafael Burgos Gómez, also announced the donation of another 100 tareas for the construction of the Atlantic Livestock City.
This initiative seeks to boost livestock development in the region, encouraging investment in the sector and projecting Puerto Plata as a province of full employment.
Welcome Ripoll Santana, president of the Federation of Livestock Associations of the Northern Region (Fedeganorte), thanked on behalf of the agricultural sector and emphasized the importance of this project for strengthening livestock farming and its impact on local tourism.
Finally, the delivery of 10,000 meters of land, also in Montellano, for the construction of an oncology hospital was confirmed.
The land was donated to the Manos Unidas contra el Cáncer Foundation by the CEA, with a usufruct of 50 years .
The Director General of National Assets and Honorary Executive of the CEA, Burgos Gómez, delivered the corresponding documentation to the Bishop of Puerto Plata, Monsignor Julio César Corniel Amaro, who highlighted the importance of this hospital to save lives in a region that has lacked specialized cancer care.
Governor Claritza Rochtte expressed her satisfaction with the completion of these projects and stated that the cemetery, the livestock city, and the cancer hospital represent a great benefit for the population of Montellano and Puerto Plata as a whole.
