SANTO DOMINGO.- President Luis Abinader yesterday led the delivery of 2,322 property titles to families in the Gualey, María Auxiliadora and 27 de Febrero sectors, as part of the Domingo Savio titling project, an initiative that seeks to guarantee legal security and improve the living conditions of thousands of residents of the National District.
During the ceremony, held at the Domingo Savio Sports Center, the head of state reported that, with this new delivery, the number of titles granted in this project rises to 5,822, directly benefiting the same number of families and indirectly impacting more than 23,000 people in these communities.
The president emphasized that the land titling process represents a transformation for the beneficiaries, making them legal owners of their land and increasing the value of their properties. “When you walked through that door, the value of your properties was approximately a certain number. When you leave, your property may be worth double or even triple that, because now you have your title.”
The governor stated that property titles allow families to access the formal financial system to develop businesses, improve their homes, build new structures, and ensure that this property can be inherited by their relatives. He also emphasized that this public policy aims to provide peace of mind to families who for years occupied land without the corresponding legal documentation. “The most important thing is that this brings peace and tranquility, because now you know you have security over what is yours. That is dignity, that is social justice.”
He reported that the Government has delivered around 170,000 property titles throughout the national territory, thus benefiting thousands of families, who now have a document that legally supports their assets.
“This is one of the social projects I enjoy the most because of the impact that land titling has on all of you. It is a project of hope, development, and true social justice,” the president reiterated.
For his part, the executive director of the State Land Titling Technical Unit (UTECT), Duarte Méndez Peña , highlighted that with this third delivery in Domingo Savio, the number of more than 5,800 beneficiary families was reached , who now have legal security over their properties.
He indicated that the project is progressing towards the goal of delivering around 8,000 property titles.
