SANTO DOMINGO –Gerdau Metaldom, a leading steel producer in the Dominican Republic, held a conference on Product Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for the industrial sector. The event took place at the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) and was attended by representatives from various sectors and member companies of this important trade association.
Product Life Cycle Analysis is an internationally recognized methodology that assesses the environmental impact of a product throughout all stages of its life, from raw material extraction to final disposal.
The aim of this conference was to provide valuable information on LCA and its relevance to the industrial sector, as well as to encourage the adoption of more sustainable practices, according to a press release.
During the conference, given by Ileana Rojas, environmental manager of Gerdau Metaldom, participants had the opportunity to learn about the various stages of the product life cycle, including raw material production, manufacturing, transportation, use and recycling.
In addition to addressing the technical aspects of LCA, the conference also highlighted the environmental and economic benefits that can be obtained by implementing a life cycle approach in the development and production of industrial products.
