Hotels, airlines, cruise lines, tour operators, travel agencies, travel insurance companies, and other tourism service providers will be offering special vacation rates until today, Sunday, at the Expoturismo exhibition held at the Hodelpa Gran Almirante Convention Center in Santiago de los Caballeros.
The twenty-sixth edition of Expoturismo 2023 began last Friday and is considered the most important of its kind in the tourism industry, and is held every year in the northern part of the country.
The President of the Senate, Eduardo Estrella, speaking on behalf of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, urged continued investment in Santiago and its economic potential.
The general director of the exhibition, Yomaris Gómez, stated that this edition consolidates the commitment of this fair to the diversification of the tourism offer with a focus on both the local and international markets.
“We are facing a consolidated event, with sustained growth, where the entire tourism sector is offered the perfect platform and setting for the launch and presentation of its products, routes and circuits, with the guarantee of an audience of the highest professional level and visitors with real intentions to buy,” said Gómez.
The president of the fair, Ramón Paulino, highlighted the great interest shown in the activity by the main leaders of the Dominican tourism sector.
Paulino announced that the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, will provide 30 million pesos for the promotion and development of tourism in Santiago.
At the event, which aims to strengthen and promote national tourism, three entities that have been vital to the country's tourism development were recognized: The Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS), and the Department of Culture of the Santiago Municipal Council.
Also speaking at the event was the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Roberto Henríquez, who attended the fair on behalf of Collado.
The governor of Santiago, Rosa Santos Mendez, highlighted the advantages of the province of Santiago, which stands out as a hospitable, safe city with interesting tourist resources.
Expoturismo 2023 is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Banreservas, the Santiago Municipal Council, Copa Airlines, the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), the National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (Infotep), Hodelpa Hotels, the Santiago Hotel and Restaurant Association (ASHORESA), the Santiago Tourist Destination Cluster, Grabo Estilo, Rancho Chito, El Asadero de Doña Pula and Brugal & Compañía.
It features the participation of more than twenty of the most important hotel chains, tour operators, airlines, cruise lines, financial institutions, clusters, travel insurance companies, public and private institutions, event organizers and media outlets
