SANTO DOMINGO- The Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, reported that by 8:30 p.m. yesterday, Tuesday, 1,442 megawatts of generation had been integrated online, representing approximately 42.5% of the actual demand of the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI), as part of the progressive recovery process after the blackout recorded in the afternoon.
The blackout occurred after 1 p.m., disrupting the normal life of the Dominican population.
Santos explained that service is already being offered to users through the following routes of the electric transport system:
• Line 1: from Mamá Tingó to Centro de los Héroes station, fully operational.
• Line 2: from María Montés (Km 9) to the connection with the cable car, with only four stations pending incorporation in the coming hours.
• Cable Car: operational and free of charge, extending service until midnight, facilitating citizen mobility while the system is being restored.
He also reiterated his commitment to transparency and reported thatthe corresponding investigations will be carried out to determine the causes of the event, in coordination with the competent bodies.
In that regard, the National Department of Investigations (DNI) has already initiated the relevant investigation processes.
