SANTO DOMINGO–The Trust for the Construction of Low-Cost Housing in the Dominican Republic (VBC-RD Trust)announced this Thursday that it has initiated legal proceedings following the arrest of eight people caught attempting to illegally occupy land in Ciudad Juan Bosch, which belongs to the trust assets established in 2014 and approved by the National Congress.
The operation was carried out by the Security Corps of Ciudad Juan Bosch, who detailed that the detainees were caught in an unauthorized occupation on land belonging to the VBC-RD Trust, the agency highlights in a press release
“These types of acts violate the law and threaten the order and structured development of Ciudad Juan Bosch. Our duty is to protect the project's boundaries and ensure the security of the trust assets of the VBC-RD Trust,” stated the Security Corps Directorate.
The document explains that the VBC-RD Trust administration had previously met with some of the arrested invaders, community members, and human rights representatives, demonstrating through the corresponding title that the land in question is part of the trust's assets.
In that same vein, the management of the VBC-RD Trust also spoke out firmly, assuring that it will not allow criminal actions to disrupt the peace of the more than fifteen thousand families who currently reside in the community.
“Ciudad Juan Bosch is one of the housing projectsin the country, and its defense is not only a legal matter, but also a matter of protecting the investment of each family. Protecting its land guarantees the well-being of thousands of Dominicans and preserves an exemplary model of sustainable development,” they stated.
The VBC-RD Trust reiterates its commitment to transparency, orderly development, and the defense of the interests of all residents.
