SANTO DOMINGO- The Dominican Republic is preparing to add more chapters to its national tourism history with its participation in the forty-fourth International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2024), to be held at the Ifema fairgrounds in Madrid, Spain, from January 24 to 28.
The charms of Miches, details of Punta Bergantín that will be developed in Puerto Plata, and the Cabo Rojo-Pedernales Tourism Development project, will be the main destinations around which the main efforts and proposals of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) will revolve.
Yesterday, David Collado, the Dominican Minister of Tourism, announced that as part of the program to be launched by the Dominican delegation during Fitur 2024, a panel discussion will be held on Miches, a municipality that is part of the province of El Seibo, located in the northeast of the Dominican Republic.
“Miches on the road to becoming a reality.” As part of Fitur 2024, we will be holding a panel moderated by Rafael Caballero, along with business leaders from several of the tourism projects currently under construction in Miches,” including Frank Elías Rainieri with the Zemit project; Salvador Luque, with Hyatt Hotels; and Papo Blanco with Viva Wyndham. Last week, the Minister of Tourism posted on his account X, formerly Twitter, that the country will shine again with the presentation of the aforementioned destinations, "to continue positioning ourselves as the best destination in the region and being benchmarks of tourism in the world.".
Banks and their agendas
Banco de Reservas said yesterday that it will participate in Fitur 2024 with a series of proposals aimed at promoting development and investment in the Dominican Republic.
The delegation, which will be headed by the bank's general manager, Samuel Pereyra, has scheduled several rounds of business meetings with investors linked to the sector, which will take place inside and outside the Ifema fairgrounds.
Banreservas stated that it will also prioritize supporting investment in the Miches tourist hub, where new developments are projected that exceed $735 million in public and private investments, according to estimates announced at Fitur 2023.
As part of the Fitur 2024 agenda, Banreservas will also pay “Tribute to Dominican Identity” during its traditional cocktail party offered to investors, tour operators and special guests related to this sector, one of the main generators of foreign exchange for the country.
For its part, Banco Popular Dominicano announced last week that it will strengthen its leading role in financing and supporting the national tourism industry, with an active participation in the 44th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR).
The delegation of executives from Banco Popular will complete a full agenda of business and institutional meetings, exceeding 30 encounters, in which new tourism developments will be evaluated, financial advice will be offered to corporate clients in the sector, the destination will be promoted among potential investors interested in the country, and institutional agreements will be announced to continue supporting the Dominican tourism industry, highlighted a press release from the banking entity.
