SANTO DOMINGO.- The Dominican-registered airline Arajet received two international awards for the modernity of its aircraft fleet during the World Aviation Summit, where it was awarded the prize for "best new airline in the world".
Arajet was recognized by CH Aviation as the second airline in the Americas with the newest aircraft and the third worldwide, according to a press release.
Information published by CH Aviation highlights that Lynx Air has the youngest fleet of aircraft in the Americas, with an average age of 2.81 years, followed by Arajet, whose fleet averages 2.93 years old. JetSmart came in third with an average age of 3.01 years, making it the number one airline in South America.
The publication indicates that globally, the airline that ranked number one was the Asian carrier Starlux Airline, with a fleetof aircraft averaging 2.04 years old. Following Starlux, the top five in the global ranking are Lynx Air, followed by the Dominican Republic's Arajet, the Asian carrier Vistara, and the South American airline JetSmart.
Victor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet, stated that this new recognition is a confirmation of their commitment to having a fleet of modern and efficient aircraft in partnership with The Boeing Company.
"Our fleet of aircraft, in addition to being among the most modern in the world, is also the most efficient and environmentally friendly fleet thanks to the technology used by the Boeing 737 Max 8, which consumes less fuel and produces less noise pollution than other aircraft of its type," Pacheco stated.
Arajet was evaluated with the fleet it had at the end of 2023, which consisted of eight Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, and the company has reported that in 2024 it will continue to add new aircraft to its fleet to further expand its network, which currently connects 23 destinations in 16 countries across the Americas.
