SANTO DOMINGO.- Tourism Minister David Collado and former Uruguayan soccer player Diego Forlán highlighted the attractions of the Dominican Republic as an ideal destination for sports tourism in the Americas region.
During his remarks, the former player expressed his admiration for the Dominican Republic, highlighting its natural beauty, hospitality, and potential for sports. He mentioned that this was his third visit to the country and fondly recalled his stay in Miches in 2021, where he traveled with his family, who fell in love with the destination and its people.
For his part, David Collado emphasized the importance of sports tourism as an engine of development and a new way to project the image of the Dominican Republic to the world.
“Events like this strengthen our position as a diverse destination, where sport, hospitality and talent come together to continue attracting visitors from all over the world,” the official said.
Forlán, who was a special guest of the Ministry of Tourism, also participated in a luncheon with media outlets and in various activities aimed at promoting the country's attractions abroad.
The South American star's visit included participation in a soccer clinic held at the Cibao FC Stadium, where more than 100 children had the opportunity to meet the historic striker.
The event was also attended by more than 500 parents and young people in the stands, who expressed their admiration for the Uruguayan idol.
