SANTO DOMINGO- The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) presented yesterday, Thursday, November 27, the "Traveler's Manual 2025", an official guide that establishes the rules for the entry and exit of goods in the Dominican Republic.
The document seeks to provide clear and accurate information to Dominican tourists and citizens about the products they can bring into or take out of the country without paying taxes, as well as the quantities allowed in each case.
Among the main points, the manual defines the limits for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, as well as the authorized amounts for gifts and goods purchased in duty-free shops.
It also establishes the obligation to declare cash amounts exceeding US$10,000, a measure that seeks to ensure transparency in the movement of foreign currency and comply with international standards.
The text includes rules on personal baggage, such as clothing, medicines, toys, sports equipment, cosmetics and food, detailing what each traveler can bring in without problems.
It also warns about prohibited or restricted products, including fresh fruit, controlled substances and non-approved equipment, as well as goods for commercial purposes that require special permits.
The manual dedicates a section to the procedures for bringing in pets, animal food and support items for people with disabilities, in order to facilitate mobility and compliance with health requirements.
Another new feature is the emphasis on the mandatory use of e-Tickets and the management of permits through the VUCE platform (Single Window for Foreign Trade), which allows for a digital and traceable system for travelers.
