The Master Development Plan involves expanding all port activities to allow more ships to arrive, thereby boosting the economic, logistical and industrial activities of the area.
In the municipality of Pepillo Salcedo, Montecristi, the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos Echavarria, announced yesterday, Sunday, July 30, 2023, that the Port of Manzanillo has been awarded and that its construction will begin in October of this year, with an investment of 70 million dollars.
"We are all looking forward to the growth and progress that this project will bring to the municipality, due to the activity it will create not only in the town, but also throughout the Northwest region (Montecristi, Valverde and Santiago Rodríguez), in terms of jobs and visitors," he said.
Santos Echavarría announced the information during his meeting with the members of the Municipal Development Council of Pepillo Salcedo, in which the governor of Montecristi, Nelsy Cruz, was present.
The minister assured that projects of this magnitude generate new investments from businesses, which translates into growth and dynamism for the Dominican Republic's economy.
In the meeting that the minister held with members of the Municipal Development Council of Pepillo Salcedo, the achievements of the Manzanillo Master Plan were also reviewed and presented,
and the territorial demands of the municipality were expressed.

Furthermore, due to its natural conditions and strategic location, the port of Manzanillo will be the main port terminal in the northwest of the country.
