SANTO DOMINGO.– Leaders from the financial, banking and auditing sectors of Latin America and the Caribbean will delve into the main challenges and transformations facing the industryin a challenging global environment, during the XVIII International Congress of Finance and Auditing (CIFA) and the XXIII Latin American Seminar of Accountants and Auditors (SELATCA).
The simultaneous event, organized by the Dominican Republic's Multiple Banking Association (ABA) and BDO Business School, has the motto "From Risk to Resilience: Key Strategies for Financial Evolution and Modern Auditing" and will take place from July 10 to 13 at the Live Aqua Beach Resort, located in Uvero Alto, La Altagracia province.
"The CIFA-SELATCA is designed to foster inter-institutional dialogue and strengthen technical and strategic capabilities in the face of an increasingly complex, demanding and regulated financial environment," the organizing institutions stated in a press release.
Among the main thematic lines that will be developed through keynote lectures, thematic panels and parallel sessions are: the transformation of internal auditing; modern financial risks and the fight against organized crime; innovation and regulation; psychology, ethics and soft skills in internal auditing.
The agenda, which is available on the website www.cifaselatca.com.do, includes the opening conference of the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, who will speak about the impact of the financial sector on regional tourism and economic development.
A topic of current relevance, such as the implications of US economic and tariff policies in Latin America, will be analyzed by Joel González, head of the Monetary Policy Department at the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic. Likewise, Yamileh García de Kuhnert, a specialist from XOLVER, will speak about the mark-to-market challenges for financial, securities, and pension intermediaries in the current context.
ABA and BDO Business School reported that the agenda also includes the impact of transnational bribery on the region's financial systems, with a presentation by Gustavo Flores Oviedo, Auditor General of the Costa Rican Housing Mortgage Bank.
Another presentation focused on advances in the fight against organized crime and good governance will be given by Luis Fernando García, president of the Money Laundering Committee of the International Association for Identification, entitled "Forensic Transversality: Innovation in Economic, Tax and Financial Crimes.".
The CIFA-SELATCA congress will close with a keynote address by Nahun Frett, Vice President of Internal Audit at Central Romana Ltd, which will focus on internal audit as a catalyst for value.
The event has positively impacted the training of some 3,000 finance and audit professionals for more than 20 years, ABA and BDO Business School said in a joint press release.
