Collado closes deal with Air Caraibes for nine weekly flights from France

The Dominican Republic's Minister of Tourism, David Collado, highlighted on Thursday the achievements made by the country in its participation in the Top Resa 2023 tourism fair, recovering that source market to guarantee the arrival of more French tourists.

"The results of our participation here at Top Rosa, with representatives from more than 20 companies in the private sector, could not be more encouraging in ensuring that French tourists continue to choose us as their favorite long-haul destination," Collado told reporters, assessing the Dominican Republic's participation in this new edition of Top Rosa, which took place here from Monday to Thursday.

Thanks to the agreements signed and dozens of meetings with the main players in French tourism, the French market was recovered and consolidated, ensuring the arrival of more tourists to the Dominican Republic.

A strategic meeting was held with executives from Air Caraibe, who announced that they will operate seven weekly flights from Punta Cana to France and two weekly flights from Santo Domingo to France, representing 6,000 seats available starting this week.

The meeting was led by Air Caraibes President Marc Rochet; Christine Ourmeries, CEO; and Edmond Richard, General Manager.

"We are ready to welcome all tourists from France and the entire world, in a destination fully prepared for their enjoyment and benefit," Collado said.

The official noted that historically France has always been among the top countries in Europe in terms of tourist origin.

Top Resa

Top Resa took place from October 3 to 5 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles fairgrounds.

It is one of the main professional tourism fairs in Europe and the gateway to the Francophone markets, which in 2022 attracted the attendance of 29,475 professionals linked to tourism, with a third of the guests being travel agencies, responsible for moving tourist traffic to the different destinations.

This trade fair, exclusively focused on professionals, brought together nearly 30,000 professionals, more than 400 exhibitors and 600 accredited journalists from around the world in its previous edition.

On this occasion, more than 20 private companies from the Dominican Republic were present.
