Civil status records will be unified into a single format; there will be a cost adjustment, announces the Central Electoral Board (JCE)

This involves changing the fees for issuing the document and readjusting the cost of other services.

SANTO DOMINGO.Starting July 1st of this year, civil status certificates will be issued in a single format, eliminating the "extract" and "unextended" varieties, as is currently done, according to an announcement by the Central Electoral Board (JCE).

In a press release, the electoral body reported that it implemented the measure through Resolution 9-2025, which it says will benefit citizens who require the service and will make the work in civil registration more effective and dynamic.

"Starting Tuesday, July 1, 2025, that is, in one month, the unification of civil status records in a single format will be available to the public: birth, recognition, marriage, divorce and death, eliminating the concepts of extract and inextensive in said identity documents, offered by the Central Electoral Board through the National Directorate of Civil Registry," the information sent yesterday, Sunday, points out.

It emphasizes that the provision does not affect the process of renewing the identity card and will have local and international reach, through the JCE's Offices of Services Abroad.

"This measure aims to reduce bureaucratic processes that delay the smooth issuance of civil registry certificates and to improve the quality of service to citizens, who have long been receiving different formats of civil status certificates that in some cases hindered understanding when requesting a specific format," explains the JCE.

The standardization of civil registry records into a single format entails a change in the fees for issuing the document and an adjustment to the cost of other services. For more information, visit the JCE website or check the institution's social media channels.

The new rates effective from July 1st are as follows:

Birth certificate RD$600 – Recognition of paternity certificate RD$600 – Marriage certificate RD$600 – Divorce certificate RD$600 – Death certificate RD$600 – School registration forms RD$0.00 – National identity card forms RD$0.00 – Certificates for judicial purposes required by the Legal Department of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) RD$0.00

The Central Electoral Board reiterated its commitment to efficiency, transparency and continuous improvement of the services it provides to the population, guaranteeing equitable access through rational and proportional rates.
