The Cibao Savings and Loan Association (ACAP) presented the results of its seventh call for the "José Santiago Reinoso Lora Competitive Funds for Sustainable Development", 2023-2024, with a disbursement of RD$12 Million pesos.
With this delivery, the Cibao Association has allocated a total of RD$63 million pesos to co-finance 54 projects of Non-Profit Associations (ASFL) nationwide.
José Luis Ventura, CEO of ACAP, stated that, during these seven editions, the financial institution has witnessed the positive impact that each of the winning initiatives has had in key areas such as the environment, the economy and social development, and emphasized the permanence of its commitment as a responsible citizen.

"Behind every winning Non-Profit Association, there is a success story, challenges, and a great responsibility for social change that we deeply value," the executive emphasized.
Likewise, during the activity, Yara Hernández, Vice President of Communications and Sustainability, said that "in practice, this institutional commitment translates into seeking triple bottom line results: social, economic and environmental, with initiatives that range from regulatory to voluntary; from ordinary to innovative; and from internal to external.".
“Likewise, the in-person Diploma in Administrative Management of Non-Profit Associations will begin in Santo Domingo on Saturday, May 11, 2024. We expect 60 graduates. We will also be offering two sessions of the intensive online workshop, ‘Strategic and Tactical Planning Methodologies,’ with a goal of 120 graduates. Both programs will be facilitated by INTEC,” Hernández explained.
For this version of the Competitive Funds - ACAP's main social investment project - 39 proposals of an environmental nature, 16 proposals of an economic nature and 96 initiatives of a social nature were received, which together total 151 unique projects submitted by the 148 ASFLs that participated.
Winners of the 2023-2024 edition
In the Social Development category, the winners were: Fundación Dominicana Unidos Frente al Autismo, Inc., with RD$1,600,000.00 for the implementation of the program "Neurofeedback Therapy for families with children on the autism spectrum and other neurodiversity conditions"; Fundación Heart Care Dominicana, Inc., which received RD$1,700,000.00 to develop the "Free Cardiovascular Program for Children and Adults in Extreme Poverty"; Un Techo para mi país República Dominicana, winners of RD$1,000,000.00 for the "Emergency Housing Program"; and Fundación Corazones Unidos, Inc., which received RD$1,000,000.00 for the project "Prevention of Non-Congenital Heart Disease and Acquired Cardiovascular Diseases in the Pediatric Population.".
In the Economy category, the following non-profit organizations were winners: Fundación Loma Quita Espuela, Inc., winner of RD$700,000.00 for the initiative "Fertilizing Life Naturally"; Asociación Dominicana de Rehabilitación (ADR), Inc., winner of RD$2,000,000.00 with the project "Training and Income Generation Initiatives for the Labor Inclusion of People with Disabilities"; and Mujeres Unidas de la Sierra, Inc., winner of RD$1,000,000.00 with the initiative "Working Together for a Dignified Life for Rural Women in San José de Las Matas, Santiago, Dominican Republic.".
Environmental projects were chosen: the Center for Comprehensive Health Education, winner of RD$2,000,000.00 with the program "Clean energy for a sustainable community: installation of a hydroelectric system in the community of La Yuca, municipality of Rancho Arriba, province of San José de Ocoa" and the Food Bank of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo, winners of RD$1,000,000.00 with the initiative "RE-AGRO: Rescue of agricultural losses to improve food systems".
