Cayo Levantado Resort Receives Business Tourism Sustainability Award

Cayo Levantado Resort receives Business Tourism Sustainability Award

Cayo Levantado Resort, Grupo Piñero's first luxury hotel, was awarded the "Samaná Business Tourism Sustainability Award" in its first edition, consolidating the company's ongoing commitment to promoting the development and prosperity of this northeastern province, positioning it as a sustainable and eco-friendly destination.

This initiative, promoted by the Samaná Tourism Cluster and AHETSA, in collaboration with the Biodiversity and Business in Central America and the Dominican Republic projects, and Circular Caribbean: prevention of plastic waste in the seas of Central America and the Caribbean, implemented by the German Development Cooperation, GIZ, seeks to highlight tourism companies that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability in the region.

"This recognition of Cayo Levantado Resort is the result of efforts to promote sustainable destinations in the region and actions carried out in conjunction with the Eco-Bahia Foundation, to preserve the unique roots and rhythms of the province, as well as to promote an environmentally friendly management model that guarantees the sustainable management of resources, conserves its richness and has a positive impact on the climate," a press release highlights.

The award, received by Hervé Blondel, general manager of Cayo Levantado Resort, within the framework of the annual meeting for the tourism development of Samaná, carried out by the Tourism Cluster, becomes evidence of the work being done to position Samaná as a benchmark area in economic, social and cultural development in the Caribbean, adds the press document.

“Receiving this recognition validates our commitment to environmental preservation and the promotion of a destination that blends sustainability and splendor. This achievement motivates us to persist in implementing strategies that strengthen our ongoing projects, guaranteeing positive and sustainable returns over time,” said Hervé Blondel.

Blondel also took the opportunity to thank the event organizers for recognizing Cayo Levantado Resort as the first sustainable luxury hotel in the Dominican Republic to introduce the innovative concept of "the luxury of regenerating." This three-pronged approach focuses on the guest experience, respect for and protection of the environment, and a passionate tribute to local culture.

Furthermore, this ninth edition of the meeting, which was held with the theme "Samaná, Education and Competitiveness in a destination", in Puerto Bahía Samaná, had the participation of Alex Matas, director of Eco-Bahia, a foundation of Grupo Piñero, who carried out a panel under the same name.

Cayo Levantado Resort is an emblem of sustainable luxury in Samaná, standing as a landmark on the tourism scene. This upscale destination combines natural beauty, cultural heritage, gastronomy, and authentic hospitality, creating an unforgettable experience on the peninsula.

From preserving the environment to fostering local talent and a comprehensive commitment to well-being, the resort redefines excellence, merging luxury and sustainability into every facet of its distinctive offering.
