SANTO DOMINGO – Banco Popular Dominicano has released its latest institutional book, " The Power of an Idea: 60 Years of Banco Popular Dominicano," a work that narrates iconic moments in the institution's history and how it has consolidated itself as a benchmark in the financial system, accelerating in recent decades its distinctive hallmark based on innovation and sustainability.
Through testimonies, anecdotes and stories from 40 people, including advisors, executives, collaborators, clients and allies of the financial organization, the book recounts in six chapters the most relevant milestones of Banco Popular and the initiatives that have contributed to its growth over six decades.
This historical overview highlights the values and efforts that have allowed the organization to be built, recognized for its commitment and excellence and for its contributions to Dominican society and the environment. The work not only reflects the entity's past but also projects its vision for the future, based on the values and principles that have led it to success.
Legacy of six decades
The keynote address was delivered by Christopher Paniagua, CEO of Banco Popular, who emphasized that the publication “is a testament to our history and a tribute to the legacy we have built over more than six decades” and thanked all the generations of employees who have been part of the institution, acknowledging their contribution to the corporate purpose and the success achieved over these sixty years.
In his message, he also highlighted Manuel A. Grullón's leadership for more than 30 years, emphasizing that “Banco Popular has been built on the example of extraordinary people like him. I am deeply grateful to have had the privilege of working alongside Don Manuel for many years. I value the trust he always placed in me,” he expressed.
Economist Andy Dauhajre, president of the Economics and Development Foundation, wrote the foreword to this institutional publication and also gave a speech to present the editorial work, highlighting the visionary capacity of the founders and executives of the financial entity and its role in the development of the Dominican Republic: “We do not find in the national geography a bank, a company, a financial or business conglomerate with a more important social and institutional contribution to our nation than that made by Banco Popular.”.
