Banco Popular holds a talk on money laundering for its suppliers

The goal is to contribute to a stronger and more reliable financial system.

 SANTO DOMINGO.- Banco Popular Dominicano held a talk for its suppliers on the prevention of money laundering and the fight against corruption, as part of the bank's efforts to educate and strengthen responsibility throughout its value chain.

The meeting is part of a series of activities designed by the financial institution to ensure that both its internal and external stakeholders act ethically and transparently, in accordance with national and international regulations aimed at preventing these types of crimes. The goal is to contribute to a stronger and more reliable financial system.

During the event, Ms. Ayeisa de los Santos, Vice President of Supply Management at Banco Popular, emphasized the importance of this training: “Preventing money laundering is not only a legal obligation, but also an ethical responsibility that we all share. As suppliers to Banco Popular, you play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the regulations that protect the trust and reputation of our institutions.”.

During the discussion, Popular's suppliers were able to delve deeper into current regulations and practices on the prevention of money laundering, as well as explore strategies to collaborate effectively in the fight against this crime, which has negative consequences for the country's economic and social stability.

Culture of transparency, trust and respect

With these actions, Popular reaffirms its commitment to educate and support its network of suppliers, promoting a culture of transparency, trust and mutual respect in its business relationships.

Currently, Grupo Popular has a network of more than 2,700 allied supplier companies, mainly small and medium-sized companies that employ dozens of people each, have a high degree of loyalty and are defined by their good practices.

The financial organization's partner companies subscribe to a code of ethics for suppliers that establishes the managerial and labor principles they must comply with regarding human rights, labor rights, environmental care, corporate social responsibility, workplace safety, among other principles that boost the reputation of these supplier companies.
