Asonahores Trade Show closes with a record 4,000 daily visits

According to the organization, more than 400 delegates registered as official buyers at the event, reflecting an increase of more than 30% in the business impact of this fair on the tourism industry.

SANTO DOMINGO.-Asonahores, the Dominican Republic's Hotel and Tourism Association, closed the 34th edition of its Trade Show achieving a "historic participation", with an average of more than 4,000 visitors per day, a figure that according to the organization "far exceeded" the attendance of 2019, its last fair.

The award was dedicated to the United States, the leading source of tourists to the Dominican Republic. According to the organization, over 400 delegates registered as official buyers at the event, reflecting a more than 30% increase in the fair's business impact on the tourism industry.

He reported that a total of 192 companies participated, occupying 410 stands, all suppliers of national and international products and services, of which 30% participated for the first time, as new members of the fair, with a wide portfolio of proposals that promote commercial exchange in the sector.

Simultaneously, an agenda of more than 20 talks and press conferences, as well as activities and workshops, was completed, featuring for the first time academic offerings from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC), the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), and the National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (INFOTEP).

Agreements

The Trade Show, "the largest of its kind in the Caribbean," served as a platform for the signing of inter-institutional agreements.

Among these agreements is the one signed by IE University, the Ministry of Tourism and PUCMM, to offer online courses in the area of ​​tourism from the Dominican Republic, endorsed by the World Tourism Organization, through its Online Tourism Academy. 

An agreement was also signed between As onahores and the Employers ' Confederation of the Dominican Republic ( Copardom ) , to undertake a joint strategy with the purpose of promoting and developing projects and actions to encourage the implementation of best practices.

Asonahores' executive vice president, Andrés Marranzini, highlighted that this year the fair was 30% larger than previous editions, with 1,100 meters more space.

He also noted that for the first time, the Trade Expo included the education sector as a participant, with the aim of promoting the professional development of employees in the tourism sector.
