SANTO DOMINGO.- Arajet announced that after almost two years of having started the process to fly to the United States, it has now formally begun selling airline tickets to that country, whose first flight to that North American country is projected for April 2025.
The Dominican airline, known for its low-cost model, announced in a press release that, currently, only flights to Miami, Florida are available, and that New York and San Juan, Puerto Rico will be added very soon.
According to the airline, the first flight to the United States will be to New York in April, followed by the first flight to Miami on the 11th of that month. The flight to San Juan will follow a few days later.
“Our main goal is to make the Dominican Republic the new hub of the continent so that more people can fly at the best prices and with world-class service. And to make that possible, it was vital to have the United States as our partner,” said Victor Pacheco, founder and CEO of Arajet.
The open skies agreement between the Dominican Republic and the United States was finalized last December, and the latter nation approved three routes for Arajet.
Trips to Miami will begin with a frequency of four flights per week and the frequency will be gradually increased.
Arajet transported more than 1.2 million passengers in 2024. It projects that with the addition of the United States, this figure will increase to 1.7 million in 2025. Furthermore, it expects to receive three new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, increasing its fleet to 13 state-of-the-art planes.
