AEI highlights foreign investment as a key element of real estate development in the Dominican Republic

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Association of Real Estate Agents and Companies (AEI) described President Luis Abinader's recent accountability report as positive and promising, highlighting the macroeconomic advances that strengthen the investment climate in the Dominican Republic.

President Alberto Bogaert emphasized that, according to official figures, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) reached a historic record of US$4.512 billion at the end of 2024, consolidating itself as a key driver of the economy and social welfare in the country.

Over the past three years, foreign direct investment (FDI) has consistently exceeded US$4 billion, reflecting international investors' confidence in the Dominican investment climate. This capital inflow has been fundamental to economic growth, job creation, and the modernization of strategic sectors, including el inmobiliario, according to a press release from the Dominican Association of Investment Companies (AEI).

Bogaert emphasized that these results demonstrate the crucial role of foreign investment in the country's development. He also praised the upswing experienced over the past year by various sectors of the national economy, such as tourism, free trade zones, exports, and energy.

The AEI endorsed the government's plans to double the national economy, with a view to achieving this goal, reiterating the importance of promoting a national strategy to encourage investment.

The organization proposes that this strategy be led by the relevant official bodies and that it bring together, in a pluralistic dialogue, the public and private sectors with the greatest impact on local and foreign investment. “The goal is for the Dominican Republic to have short-, medium-, and long-term planning that addresses actions and responses to the current demands of the investment climate, in order to continue on the path of economic success and generate stability and well-being for the Dominican population,” the businessman stated.

The AEI considered that President Luis Abinader's speech reflected the importance of continuing to identify synergies between the public and private sectors to achieve the country's projected development and growth goals.

“The AEI remains steadfast in its mission to promote a favorable environment for investment and real estate development, contributing to the sustainable progress of the Dominican Republic,” concluded Alberto Bogaert.
