SANTO DOMINGO.– More than a thousand agronomists lack the financial means to own their own homes, so the president of the National Association of Agricultural Professionals (ANPA), Fausto Elías Tejada, demanded that the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, develop a low-cost housing project for these professionals.
The leader of the agronomists indicated that the group has land available in various parts of the country where these homes could be built.
Tejada also asked the Head of State to grant pensions to more than a thousand agricultural professionals who are ill and others who have completed their years of service. He specified that a document with the names of these individuals was submitted to the National Palace.
Another demand made by Tejada is that the authorities allocate 100 million pesos so that agronomists can promote agricultural development projects at a zero interest rate through the Agricultural Bank and the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA). The initiative aims to help them strengthen their harvests.
The union leader made the remarks after participating in a Eucharist at the La Paz church, located in the Heroes Center, to commemorate "Agricultural Professional Day".
He highlighted his satisfaction with the achievements that, he assures, the current ANPA board has had.
The commemorative activities culminated with the laying of a floral offering at the Altar of the Fatherland, in honor of the national heroes.
