SANTO DOMINGO. – Arajet, the Caribbean's low-cost airline, launched the second edition of its scholarship program for Dominican cadet pilots, as part of its social responsibility efforts to promote the development of local talent among national pilots.
The airline explained in a press release that this new call for applications is being made with the support of the services and tools of the American company Boeing, to offer educational opportunities with world-class quality standards, and thus contribute to the growth of the aviation sector in the Dominican Republic.
“This second call for young people starting out as Dominican pilots is a confirmation of Arajet’s commitment to the national aeronautical sector to develop the Dominican aviation industry and ensure that we have more and more local talent specialized in all areas of aviation,” stated Víctor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet.
Pacheco highlighted that in the first phase they will be offering two full scholarships for training that will allow participants to become Boeing certified and study at their facilities in the United States. “This program includes a theoretical component and a practical component of training in Boeing’s flight simulator in Miami, enabling them to begin their careers as commercial pilots and join the airline as first officers.”.
The national flag carrier explained that candidates interested in applying must meet the following requirements: be a Dominican citizen, of legal age, hold a commercial pilot's license, have a minimum of 200 hours of flight experience, including twin-engine or multi-engine aircraft, have a US visa, and possess at least ICAO English level 4.
Applications for the Pilot Cadet Program Scholarships will be open from June 19th to 24th of this year. They also indicated that the final evaluation and selection event will take place on June 27th.
