SANTO DOMINGO.-Aerodom reported a 6.8% increase in the number of travelers who visited the Las Américas International Airport, José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA), during the same month of April, compared to the number of travelers who came in the same month in 2022.
According to figures from Aerodom, the main airport in the capital, handled 446,382 domestic and foreign passengers last April.
He highlighted that Holy Week was the period in April with the highest number of passengers both entering and leaving, exceeding 100,000 visitors, both local and tourists.
The company that manages and operates six airports in the Dominican Republic, under a concession contract granted by the State and extending until 2030, stated that in the first quarter of this year, 1,339,000 national and foreign passengers traveled through the aforementioned airport terminal.
During this time period, the majority of passengers were Dominicans residing in cities in the United States, European countries, and nations in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
Aerodom explained that in April of this year, travelers who came to the country did so through AILA, on regular and charter flights from different airlines.
