SANTO DOMINGO- The 8th edition of the National Housing Roundtable will return on October 12th of this year, with an excellent lineup of topics and experts to discuss the current state of the sector, its challenges and perspectives.
“We invite our members and associates to participate in the most important event of the year for the housing construction sector in the Dominican Republic, our “8th National Housing Roundtable, Vision 2030: urban development, sustainability and access to housing for all,” reported Acoprovi, the Association of Housing Builders and Promoters, through its Instagram social network.
The event, which takes place every two years, brings together the main voices interested in housing development in the country, from authorities of public institutions to construction companies and financial entities, Annerys Meléndez, president of the builders' guild, explained to El Inmobiliario .
He maintained that they have established the foundations to consolidate a deep dialogue, with lasting solutions and an innovative and sustainable vision in the long term.
The event began in 2004. The 2023 program features various panels and conferences on sustainable construction, industry trends, and other topics.
The event will take place at the JW Marriott Hotel, starting at 8:30 AM. Meléndez explained that the 8th edition will showcase the results of several initiatives implemented over the past two years and will announce new projects for the benefit of society.

President Luis Abinader has been invited to inaugurate the 8th National Housing Roundtable, where discussions will focus on access to housing in light of the new Law on Rentals, Real Estate, and Evictions in the Dominican Republic: its impact and potential revolution in the market. Urban development, particularly the Santo Domingo supercity, will also be addressed.
In addition, national and international experts will present on the urban development of the main cities in the Dominican Republic: the National District, Santo Domingo province, Santiago, and Bávaro-Punta Cana, covering their current situation, challenges, and opportunities. Urban design: disruptive trends and macro-trends in the residential real estate market.
It will also cover the development and promotion of sustainable construction and housing in the country; the entry into force of the green taxonomy, access to housing finance in the country, challenges and opportunities.
Access to housing through the use of pension funds will also be discussed: a success story from Peru.
Acoprovi's proposals for a comprehensive plan to achieve access to decent housing within the framework of the National Development Strategy will be presented.
Activities will include thedistribution of the book “Real Estate in the Dominican Republic, Practical Guide”, written by Julissa Burgos; the signing of an inter-institutional agreement with the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), regarding the launch of the Dominican Construction Code and the Ten-Year Housing Plan in the Dominican Republic; and an agreement with Pro Consumidor on best practices in housing construction: warranty matrix and user manual.
