“Nearly 5,000 people will now enjoy the benefits of having titled real estate, such as legal security for their plot or home, increased property value, and access to formal credit through financial institutions, among other benefits,” the President highlighted.
BARAHONA.– “Housing policy is one of the pillars that underpin the actions of my government, and we are taking important steps to reduce the housing shortage and the lack of property titles in the Dominican Republic as much as possible and as quickly as possible. It is a monumental task, but not impossible,” declared President Luis Abinader during his visit yesterday to this southern region.
The president expressed his views while delivering 1,060 property titles to benefit approximately 5,000 people residing in the communities of Villa Central, specifically in the Balaguer neighborhood, Los Blanquizales, La Montañita and Los Solares de Milton.
Abinader declared that with the delivery of the title certificates, the Government is fulfilling one of the most longed-for dreams of hundreds of families living in these communities, who for many years awaited this moment in which they finally receive from the Dominican State the property title that accredits them as owners of the lands they have occupied for so long.
“From today onwards, the change that this action by the Government will generate in their lives, in the future of their families and in that of these communities is sealed,” he said.
“Nearly 5,000 people will now enjoy the benefits of having titled real estate, such as legal security for their plot or home, increased property values, and access to formal credit through financial institutions, among other benefits,” the President emphasized, praising the work of the State Land Titling Technical Unit and the Dominican Agrarian Institute.
He asserted that his purpose has always been to work for the people, serving citizens with responsibility, honesty, and transparency, ensuring that the structural change he has implemented to transform the country from top to bottom will have a positive impact on the lives of Dominicans.
They received their definitive titles from the hands of President Abinader: Demetrio Beltré Matos, Canela Féliz Rubio, José Volquez Féliz, Mora Urbáez Féliz, Leyda Sena Pérez, Erida Florián Carrasco, Juana Bautista Pérez, Nelsi Milagros Pérez Medina, Álvaro Félix Caraballo and Frank Félix Beltré.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates was Canela Féliz Rubio, who thanked President Abinader for considering them with this delivery and said that the families are joyful and grateful because now there is peace and they no longer fear that anyone will be able to take their homes away.
The blessing of the event was given by Father Aníbal Montero, from the Perpetuo Socorro parish, who expressed that today a dream is fulfilled that has been achieved thanks to the good desire of President Abinader that every person has a property title.
The priest requested that plot 24 of the Villa Central Municipal District also be taken into account in a future delivery, a request that was answered by President Abinader, who assured that the Government is working to resolve it.
The beneficiaries saved about RD$129.5 million, because individually each property would have paid a minimum of RD$80,000.
Multiple agenda
Abinader also inaugurated the Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia Senior Citizens' Home, with an investment of more than RD$20 million.
The bishop of the diocese of Barahona, Monsignor Napoleón Andrés Romero Cárdenas, highlighted President Abinader's prompt response to the construction of this nursing home for the elderly, which the community had been demanding for years.
During his visit to the southern province, Abinader made a supervisory visit to the paving program in the Valle Encantado sector, Villa Central of this province, where residents expressed their joy at the paving of their streets, since since the founding of the neighborhood, more than 30 years ago, no president had cared.
The paving plan is part of the National Road and Highway Paving Program. In the province of Barahona, work is underway in 17 sectors and on 83 streets.
President Abinader also led the inauguration of the Barahona Heliport and the National Heliport Network, which will support the tourism and commercial expansion of the Southern region and the country.
