SANTO DOMINGO.- While presiding over the handover of 208 apartments to the same number of families, President Luis Abinader praised the "innovative scheme" of public-private partnerships this Saturday, after assuring that his Government has delivered more homes than in any other term.
“This is a government for everyone. A government for those who have the least, and it is also a government to develop business, to develop commerce, and those who think there are differences between one sector and another, it is the opposite,” said the president while presiding over the inauguration of the buildings in Hato Nuevo, Santo Domingo Oeste.
Abinader led two apartment handover ceremonies, the first of 112 housing units in the Hato Nuevo V Residential complex, built by the Bisonó Construction Company, which the president praised for its track record.
The members of the Government also went to the Lolita I Residential complex, in the same sector, where through the Happy Family National Housing Plan, they delivered 96 new homes.
“In these two years and eight months, we have delivered more homes than any other government has delivered before… We will continue to do so because of the importance we give to social programs,” he explained.
He explained that maintaining social peace through social justice initiatives is fundamental. “That’s why we’ve increased social assistance programs in the government. More than doubled, because we’ve doubled both the amount provided and the number of people who receive it,” he added.
He emphasized that "the goal of any family when asked what they want in life is to own a home.".
Investment details
Joel Santos, Minister of the Presidency, detailed the investment made in the project.
“When I talk about public-private partnerships, I want you to know that this project had an investment of more than 252 million pesos from the developer, Constructora Bisonó; while the State, represented by the Government, contributed more than 97 million pesos in subsidies,” Santos explained.
He specified that of the subsidy, 33.6 million pesos correspond to the Initial Bonus; 24.1 million to the ITBIS Bonus; and 37.6 million to the Interest Rate Bonus. He also indicated that 1.7 million pesos are earmarked for the Women's Bonus, granted to nine women who are heads of household.
Also participating in the event was the president of the Bisonó Construction Company, Rafael Vitelio Bisonó, who highlighted the company's compliance with payments to those requesting support from social programs.
Lolita I
Subsequently, the authorities moved to the Lolita I Residential Complex, also in Hato Nuevo, where, through the Happy Family National Housing Plan, they delivered 96 new apartments to the same number of families.
Among the beneficiaries, four female heads of household received the Women's Bonus granted by the Ministry of Women. With these 96 units, the total number of homes delivered by the Government through the Happy Family Plan has reached 753.
Santos explained that these 96 families have been supported with 77,696,000 pesos, by receiving the Initial, ITBIS and 7-Year Rate bonuses, which considerably reduces the value of the housing they are receiving today.
The developer of Residencial Lolita I, Louis Bogaert, allocated an investment of more than 208 million pesos in an infrastructure project that guarantees safety and comfort to the residents, while the Government assumed a significant subsidy for the families.
On behalf of Louis Bogaert, his wife, Nicole Morales, explained that the Lolita I Residential complex has 21 buildings, with apartments ranging from 54 to 68 square meters, designed with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, kitchen, laundry area and balcony.
Similarly, the Lolita II and III projects are already in the permitting phase to begin construction soon.
Joel Santos announced that the delivery of another five thousand homes is projected for 2023; and the construction of 10,000 more is planned for 2024, thus adding to other programs developed by this Government, such as Mi Vivienda and RD se Reconstruye.
