SANTO DOMINGO.- President Luis Abinader announced that by the first quarter of next year the country will launch a one-stop shop for construction, through the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings, which will allow non-complex projects to obtain all permits in 60 days and more complex projects in 120 days.
While participating in the opening of the seventh edition of the Housing Roundtable organized by the Dominican Association of Housing Builders and Promoters (ACOPROVI), the president expressed interest in following up on a proposed rental law that would promote investment in decent housing for this purpose.
He emphasized the use of this type of housing, mainly by younger people or families who do not yet own a home.
He asserted that the housing sector is leading the Dominican Republic's economic recovery, considering that the country has the capacity to provide the general population with good housing projects that will mitigate and reduce the existing deficit.
“I want you, along with us, to be auditors and supervisors, demanding that we comply with those time limits that are fundamental to the development of housing,” he said.
He also announced that the Zero Bureaucracy, Efficient Government project will streamline all permits and construction processes, with a deadline of November 2022, to facilitate processes in all other areas of government and ensure transparency.
The president emphasized that, as part of the land titling process, approximately 35,000 property titles will be issued by the end of December of this year, covering the period since he took office. This represents roughly 90% of the titles issued by previous administrations.
“Next year we plan to deliver some 100,000 titles. This is a momentous step towards making the Dominican Republic a society of property owners who learn to respect private property, but at the same time, these new property owners can also build their homes with legal security and appropriate financing,” he emphasized.
