SANTO DOMINGO.– With the purpose of facilitating communication in a section of the northern region, the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported that starting this Monday, May 11, at 2:00 p.m., it will enable a temporary detour with a concrete ford over the Camú River, in Yásica, to maintain vehicular traffic between Santiago and Puerto Plata.
The solution will be implemented, he said, while construction work on the new bridge, which will connect that region, progresses.
In a notice, the entity explained that the temporary solution was built parallel to the bridge under construction and will have two lanes on an eight-meter-wide concrete slab, with the aim of facilitating transit on the Tourist Highway.
The MOPC indicated that the construction work on the new bridge continues to be carried out during day and night shifts, seven days a week.
The bridge is moving forward
Public Works detailed that the piles corresponding to the two abutments and the two piers of the bridge structure have already been completed, while the support and beam fabrication work is progressing, which is more than 40% complete and that simultaneously, the brigades are carrying out rebar work for the pouring of the structures of the work.
He added that the technical and construction teams are continuing their work to complete the infrastructure and provide a definitive solution for users of the Tourist Highway.
