16 communities will be temporarily without electricity due to maintenance work by ETED

The entity explained that these tasks aim to prevent breakdowns, ensure the proper functioning of transmission lines and extend the useful life of its infrastructure.

SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) announced this Tuesday a preventive maintenance program that will take place today and next Thursday, which will cause power outages in 16 communities in the provinces of María Trinidad Sánchez, Santiago, and San Juan.

According to the entity, the work includes preventive actions and replacement of deteriorated structures on several 69 kV transmission lines.

In the province of María Trinidad Sánchez, the towns that will be affected are Nagua, Cabrera, Payita, Arroyo Salado, Las Gordas, Boba and Matancitas.

The work will be carried out on the 69 kV Nagua–Payita transmission line, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and will include preventive maintenance and replacement of structures that show deterioration.

Interventions in San Juan

In the province of San Juan, work will also be carried out on the 69 kV San Juan I–Sabaneta transmission line.

ETED specified that these will take place from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm and will include the replacement of deteriorated structures.

The company explained that, for safety reasons, it will be necessary to intervene in the Edesur SJ-102 CT-078377 distribution circuit. This situation will affect the electricity supply in Sabaneta and, partially, in the province of San Juan, as well as the Sabaneta Hydroelectric Plant.

Work scheduled for Thursday, August 27

ETED indicated that it will continue its maintenance program on Thursday, August 27. That day, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, crews will be working on the 69 kV Santiago–Navarrete Free Zone transmission line.

The work will include preventive maintenance and replacement of deteriorated structures.

During this period, the electricity service will be interrupted in Los Tocones, Los Salados, Cruces de Quinigua, Urbanización Pisano, La Canela, Villa González and El Matadero, belonging to the province of Santiago, as well as in the Pisano Free Zone Industrial Park.

These actions are part of ETED's ongoing maintenance program, aimed at preventing breakdowns, preserving the optimal conditions of transmission lines and extending the useful life of its infrastructure.

Through these efforts, the entity seeks to strengthen the resilience of the electrical grid and maintain it in suitable condition to meet the current and future needs of the country.
