Viva Wyndham Resorts is building a 486-room family hotel in Miches and will build another one geared towards the adult market with 264 units
MICHES, Dominican Republic - With an investment of RD$3.5 billion pesos, the Viva Wyndham Resorts hotel chain joins the development and exploitation of tourism in the community of Miches, Dominican Republic, where it will build a tourist complex with 750 rooms.
The project, which will begin operations in 2023, will generate 500 direct jobs and more than 1,500 indirect jobs in Miches. Viva Wyndham Resorts is the first Dominican-owned company to have a hotel facility in that community.
The complex, whose construction began with the presence of President Luis Abinader, will be the starting point for a new period of expansion for Dominican tourism, according to Ettore Colussi, president of Viva Wyndham Resorts, who also announced tourism projects by the chain in Pedernales and Jamaica.
“This is our contribution to the development of Miches because we believe in the country's destinations and we trust the government that leads it, and we are here today launching the first of two hotels that this tourist complex will have, with 750 rooms and an investment, in its first stage, estimated at RD$3.5 billion pesos,” Colussi reported.
In Miches, Viva Wyndham Resorts is building a 486-room family hotel and will construct another hotel geared towards the adults market with 264 units. The first phase will include three accommodation buildings and an 853-square-meter pool area.
This complex, designed by architect Antonio Imbert, will also feature open-air plazas, a retail building, a nightclub, a gym, an 1,100-seat amphitheater, an events hall, à la carte and buffet restaurants, three bars and an ice cream parlor, and a dedicated space for Viva Club members. Construction is being carried out by Kuky Silverio Industrial Ingeniería.
Viva Wyndham Resorts, Colussi explains, is a pioneer in the history of Dominican tourism and one of the first all-inclusive hotel chains born in the Dominican Republic. It has developed Bayahibe as a tourist destination and is the first Dominican hotel company established in Mexico and the Bahamas
It also stands out as a pioneer in the application of sustainable practices such as the Blue Flag certification, the international Cristal certification, and pro-environmental actions, including Solar Electricity Generation Systems with Photovoltaic Panels in Samaná, Dominicus, Playa Dorada, Cabarete and the Bahamas.
Colussi explained that they are making this investment because “we believe in the present and future of our country as a successful tourist destination, and also because we are inspired by the enthusiasm with which President Luis Abinader assumes his role as leader, who has dedicated himself to putting tourism into motion” as the engine that will restore dynamism to the Dominican economy.

Miches is an emerging rural community in the Dominican Republic, founded in 1939, which has great tourism potential due to its extensive beaches, considered among the best in the country, and irregular coastlines with geographical features along its shoreline of points and inlets excellent for tourism.
Its geographic location, with the sea to the north and a mountain range to the south, makes Miches a place of pristine natural beauty, boasting mangroves, coconut palms, rivers, mountains, waterfalls, and tropical forests. The new roads connecting it to Punta Cana, El Seibo, and Sabana de la Mar are fostering its economic and tourism development.
Among its main attractions are Esmeralda Beach, which is underdeveloped; Montaña Redonda, Laguna Redonda and Laguna Limón (protected areas); Bahía La Gina (a habitat and protected species management area), Playa Limón, Playa Arriba and Media Luna (a natural saltwater pool), among other attractions.
