SANTO DOMINGO.– President Luis Abinader met virtually this Thursday with the Dominican ambassador to the United States, Sonia Guzmán, who led a trade mission of US-owned companies planning to invest in the Dominican Republic.
The companies SkyPower Global, Temple Allen Industries and Ridge Partners Northwest Line, present at the meeting, had the opportunity to explain to President Abinader their projects and the benefits in jobs and generation of opportunities that they could bring to the Dominican Republic.
Ambassador Guzmán introduced the companies and highlighted her mission to communicate to investors in the United States the actions of the Dominican Government to strengthen stability and democratic transparency, legal security, the independence of the public prosecutor's office, and the opening of business opportunities and competitive advantages that the country offers.
Also participating in the meeting were the Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs and Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hugo Rivera Fernández, and the commercial team of the Dominican Embassy in Washington, DC.
Sonia Guzmán explained that in this way the United States and the Dominican Republic continue to strengthen their trade ties through investments, in this case exploring areas of growth in the aeronautical and energy production sectors, which could culminate in transactions of up to one billion dollars.
President Abinader reiterated the importance of job creation in the country and highlighted the policies implemented to improve conditions for investment, including the creation of the Investment Promotion Cabinet headed by Vice President Raquel Peña.
SkyPower Global, with a recognized international presence, presented a project for the local manufacturing of solar panels and generation of up to 500 megawatts of energy, identifying Pedernales as the ideal geographical area for this investment.
Temple Allen Industries expressed interest in regionalizing part of its operations from the Dominican Republic, taking advantage of the country's nearshoring opportunities. The company manufactures ergonomic aerospace equipment for major multinational aerospace companies, such as Boeing, Airbus, Gulfstream, Lockheed, and Embraer, as well as NASA, the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Navy.
Ridge Partners Northwest Line, which recently signed a concession contract with the Dominican government to produce diesel fuel from waste and solid waste, presented its expansion plans for other regions of the country. The company will soon begin construction of a recycling plant in Valverde province, which will produce approximately two million gallons of synthetic fuel per month for export.
