Two planes collided in Dallas, Texas, during the Wings Over Dallas WWII Airshow. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a statement confirming the accident, but the number of casualties is still unknown.
City authorities have described the incident as "a tragedy" for the city.
The following is the FAA statement:
"A Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Bell P-63 Kingcobra collided and crashed at the Wings Over Dallas Airshow at Dallas in Texas at approximately 1:20 p.m. local time on Saturday. The number of people on board both aircraft is currently unknown."
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide further updates.
No agency identifies the people involved in plane crashes.
Both directions of Highway 67 are closed and traffic is being diverted east and west on Ledbetter Drive.
