Tourism Minister on tour in Europe to attract more tourists to the country

Tourism Minister David Collado began a promotional tour of the Dominican Republic in Frankfurt, Germany, which includes Germany, the United Kingdom, and Italy, to ensure that Europeans continue to prefer the Caribbean country as their favorite long-haul destination.

This tour aims to consolidate the Dominican Republic's position in these source markets and forge new alliances that will result in more tourists arriving in Quisqueya.

As part of his promotional tour of Europe, Collado held his first Roadshow in Frankfurt with tour operators, airlines and travel agencies from the German market to ensure that more European visitors continue to choose the Dominican Republic.

“Europe is a vital market for the Dominican Republic, and the Ministry of Tourism will be doing everything possible to ensure that more German, Italian, and British tourists choose our country as their favorite long-haul destination,” Collado explained.

The minister highlighted that the Dominican Republic has been the leading country in the recovery of tourists, which has been recognized by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

He attributed the success of the tourism recovery to the joint work of the public and private sectors, led by the Tourism Cabinet.

“The global context has made it more difficult for Europeans to take long trips and stays, but we are here to humbly continue working hand in hand with the main tour operators, travel agencies, and airlines to establish favorable conditions so that Europeans can easily access the best vacations in the Dominican Republic,” Collado added.

The official explained, in a presentation shared with Vice Minister Jaqueline Mora, that more than 4.5 million people visited the Dominican Republic in the first five months of the year, a figure never before seen in the history of Dominican tourism, which leads them to project the possibility of surpassing, for the first time in history, the 9 million visitor mark and possibly also the 10 million mark towards the end of 2023.

According to figures presented by Collado and Mora, Dominican tourism continues to rise, with a total growth of more than 20% in 2023 and with high satisfaction from tourists arriving in the Caribbean country.

Collado will have a full schedule where, in addition to presenting the Dominican Republic as a destination to hundreds of tour operators and travel agencies in those countries, he will have specific working meetings with the main travel promoters, airlines and other important players in the tourism sector of that continent.
