Tourism Minister David Colladoinaugurated the reconstruction work on the Jumunuco access road section Sabina street in the municipality of Jarabacoa yesterday, Wednesday, at a cost of 157 million pesos.
The project includes the reconstruction of two road axes with a total of 4.9 kilometers, which will allow comfortable and safe access for the section from La Sabina to the Compadre Pascual school.
Collado highlighted the importance of the project and the impact it will have on the community.
"Today we are starting work on this section of road, a long-standing demand of this hardworking community of Jumunuco," said Collado.
He stated that he believes in and promotes tourism that positively impacts communities, through projects and investments.
The first section to be improved will consist of a 5-meter-wide road section, 0.93 kilometers long, made of asphalt concrete with a lime-stabilized base. It will also include speed bumps, channeling in an existing ravine, and vertical and horizontal signage.
The second section will have a road section of 7 meters, a length of 3.70 kilometers, ditches for lateral drainage, storm drains, as well as reconstruction of culverts, speed bumps, construction of sidewalks and curbs and vertical and horizontal signage.
The work will be carried out by the Executive Committee for Infrastructure of Tourist Zones (Ceiztur), at a total cost of RD$ 157,082,354.
The event was attended by provincial and municipal authorities, tourism entrepreneurs, and community leaders, among others.
