SANTO DOMINGO- The Dominican Republic's Multiple Banking Association (ABA) announced this Thursday that starting next Monday, March 28, the financial institutions that are members of the association will extend their hours of service to the public in shopping malls and supermarkets.
The ABA explained in a statement that the offices and branches located in those establishments will close at 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
They will work an additional hour on Saturdays compared to the current schedule, they said in a statement.
The association indicated that its members decided to gradually reduce the hours of in-person services, taking into account the context of normalization of activities, following the significant decrease in the COVID-19 indicators evident in the country.
He explained that the decision was adopted under the protection of circular 006-22 of the Superintendency of Banks, issued on March 11, which stipulates that financial intermediation entities and exchange intermediaries may gradually reinstate the customer service hours that existed before the pandemic.
The entity urged users to stay informed about the schedules established by their preferred financial institution and reminded them that they have the option of accessing different products and transactions through online banking.
The ABA highlighted the importance of alternative channels enabled by multiple banks (applications, Internet Banking, ATMs and banking sub-agents), the use of which translates into savings of time and resources for customers.
