SANTO DOMINGO.- On August 31, the Dominican Republic swore in the first class of Private Technical Supervisors, a new division in which construction professionals can be included, stemming from Law No. 160-21 that creates the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), of August 3, 2021.
The law defines this new figure as "a registered, qualified and authorized professional, who possesses the necessary technical knowledge to carry out the general inspection of the different construction stages of a private building, in accordance with the provisions established in the construction license or permit to start work.".
Their job is to receive, review and inspect the execution of the different stages of building construction and ensure compliance with current regulations in the Dominican Republic.
59 professionals, 40 men and 19 women, civil engineers and architects, registered and qualified in the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA), whose term will conclude within five years.
