The PQ Golf Tournament 2026 was a success

Gustavo Turull and Manuel González win the PQ Invitational 2026 in an edition marked by sport and solidarity

SANTO DOMINGO. Some tournaments simply remain on the calendar, while others, due to their significance, leave a mark that transcends the competition itself. After 22 editions, the PQ Invitational has solidified a tradition where the value of the matches lies not only in the results, but also in the camaraderie, personal connections, and social commitment that has strengthened over the years.

This year, La Romana Country Club, in Casa de Campo, once again hosted the event organized by the Palos Quitao Association (PQ). The 2026 edition brought together 148 golf and padel players and saw Gustavo Turull and Manuel González emerge as the overall winners. The day maintained the exclusive, invitation-only nature of this gathering and the friendly atmosphere that has distinguished it since its inception.

During his welcoming remarks, Miguel Roig, president of the PQ Association, highlighted that the importance of this initiative lies both in the tradition it represents and in its ability to generate concrete contributions in favor of other people.

"The most valuable aspect of this journey of more than two decades is not only maintaining a tradition, but knowing that each encounter can translate into concrete opportunities for other people. Sport brings us together, but the essence we have built around the tournament is what gives it true meaning and commits us to continue," Roig expressed.

Sports results of the PQ Invitational 2026

In the competitive arena, Juan Ramos and Miguel Barbero took first place in the senior category. Leonardo Vargas and Andrés Aybar came in second, while Papo Blanco and Luis Sanabia completed the top three.

In the overall standings, Christian Farach and Guillermo Roig topped the table, followed by Pedro Pablo Cabrera Haché and Gamal Haché. Julio Zeller and Juan F. Mayol finished in third place.

More than RD$15 million for social causes

However, the reach of the Invitational goes beyond rankings and awards. Throughout its history, the initiative has incorporated a charitable dimension that is now one of its main distinguishing features.

This new stage began with the resurgence of Palos Quitao, promoted by the children of its founding members, who took on the task of continuing the tradition and expanding its contribution to various social causes.

As a result of that effort, the organization has channeled more than RD$15 million in donations, resources that demonstrate how an initiative born around sports can become a way to support other people and communities.

Likewise, this year's version was dedicated to José Antonio Caro Ginebra, in recognition of his connection to the history of PQ and the personal ties that have helped define the identity of the association.

An agenda that combined sport and camaraderie

The program began on Friday, October 16, with a welcome cocktail dinner and the distribution of bags to the players, an activity that facilitated the first reunions among the attendees and marked the beginning of the events.

The following day, the participants gathered early for registration and breakfast. The golf competition began at 8:00 a.m., played in a scramble and directed by Raúl Cendoya.

At the same time, the padel matches and the PQ Wellness Morning, proposals that expanded the recreational and sporting offer of the weekend.

The agenda culminated with a luncheon and the awards ceremony, during which the competitors' performance was recognized. The closing event also served as an opportunity to share experiences and strengthen the bonds among those who participate in this annual competition.

Business support for a solidarity initiative

To make the meeting possible, the PQ Invitational had UBS and Visa Infinite as strategic partners, in addition to the support of Martí, La Bodega, Grupo Farach, CEPEM, Rica, Banreservas, Banco Lafise, Humano Seguros, Alpha, United Capital, Excel and HSS.

This collaboration was supported by sponsors Total Energies, Alpha, Volvo, Fundación Blandino, Numadol, Punta Bergantín, INFACA, BABE Laboratories, Scotiabank, AFP Reservas, FIJI WATER, BLUETRACK, Color Visión, R de los Reyes Cigars, Prival, Eco Planeta Caribe, Harry Heinsen & Co., JETOUR, CHAMI ISA, Blue Ocean Foods, Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Cáceres & Asociados, Pinturas Popular, ROIG Agro-Cacao, SA, Mayol & Co. A tradition that keeps its purpose alive

With each edition, new names are added to the list of winners, and experiences are added to the history of those who return to share this day. However, the main distinguishing feature of the PQ Invitational remains unchanged: the conviction that sport, in addition to uniting people, can help generate opportunities and support causes that benefit others.

That commitment, sustained for more than two decades and renewed by new generations, constitutes one of the pillars of an initiative that has managed to combine competition, friendship and solidarity.
