SANTO DOMINGO.- The metropolitan region market currently has 246,211.7 m2 of building construction intended for commerce, according to the Building Supply Registry (ROE) of the National Statistics Office (ONE), presented last week.
Of that figure, 38.9% is concentrated in the National District. Of the remaining 61.1%, 33.0% corresponds to Santo Domingo Norte with 81,361.7 m²; 15.1% to Santo Domingo Este with 37,154.4 m²; and 13.0% to Los Alcarrizos and Santo Domingo Oeste, with 14,897.0 and 17,026.0 m², respectively.
53,840.9 square meters are available for immediate sale, 6,594 square meters of buildings have been sold, separated or reserved, 141,298 square meters are not marketable and 44,478.1 square meters have no information.
Regarding office availability, the construction area is 116,264.1 m2, of which 51.3% was on offer at the time of the study, while 32.6% was not marketable.
Of the total, 98.7% is located in the National District and 1.3% in the province of Santo Domingo, equivalent to 1,482.2 m2.
Housing characteristics
The ONE survey determined that buildings with three to four floors represent 29.1%, followed by seven to twelve with 21.9%, those with one to two with 18.5% and those with thirteen to twenty with 17.1%, with more than twenty levels representing 2.5%.
The main characteristics of the units intended for housing include a size of more than 200 square meters (28.9%). Regarding parking, 36.4% have one space, 51.9% have two, and 11.7% have more than two parking spaces.
The room layout: 61.9% have three rooms, 20.7% have two rooms, 9% have one room, and 8.3% have more than three rooms.
The distribution of bathrooms is as follows: 38.3% one, 23.5% one and a half bathrooms, 18.3% more than three, 10.2% have two, 5.8% two and a half bathrooms, while 3.6% of the homes have more than three.
