Road Construction Begins: First groundbreaking will mark the start of a key connection in La Otra Banda

The first groundbreaking will mark the beginning of a key connection in La Otra Banda

SANTO DOMINGO. – In an area where growth is outpacing its own infrastructure, the start of a new highway will mark much more than an improvement in traffic; it will redefine the rhythm of an entire region.

This Friday, March 20, the groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the La Otra Banda Tourist Boulevard, a four-lane road that will connect the Coral Highway with the Verón-Punta Cana ring road, in what is shaping up to be one of the most strategic road interventions for the province of La Altagracia.

The project, promoted by the Association of Tourism and Real Estate Developers of La Otra Banda Punta Cana (ADITOP), together with the City Council of the municipal district and with the support of the La Altagracia Tourism Business Alliance (ALETA), seeks to respond to an increasingly evident reality: the urban and tourist growth of the area has begun to put pressure on its mobility capacity.

The new road will not only connect key points such as the La Otra Banda–Verón highway, but will also serve as a direct link to the Punta Cana tourist corridor, used daily by residents, workers in the sector and visitors.

Beyond the infrastructure, the project aims to significantly reduce travel times in one of the areas with the highest traffic flow in the country, where real estate and tourism expansion has multiplied the demand for connectivity.

The boulevard has been proposed as a response to this pressure. According to information released by ADITOP, its construction will improve regional logistics, facilitate access to tourist destinations, and raise the quality of life in communities that depend directly on this thoroughfare.

The intervention has also been declared a priority by local authorities, as it is considered a key piece within the process of economic expansion and territorial planning of La Otra Banda.

In the current context, where new real estate and tourism developments continue to concentrate in this eastern area, the construction of this road is part of a set of initiatives that seek to accompany and, to some extent, organize this growth.

The start of the work not only marks the beginning of a project, but also an attempt to answer a question that remains open in the area: how to sustain a development that keeps moving forward.
