SANTO DOMINGO.- Tourism entrepreneurs from the province of La Altagracia and municipal authorities are preparing to begin work on the La Otra Banda Tourist Boulevard, a four-lane road that seeks to improve the road connection between this community and the Verón-Punta Cana tourist corridor.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Friday, March 20. The project includes a new road that will connect the Autovía del Coral (Coral Highway) with the Verón–Punta Cana ring road and the La Otra Banda–Verón highway, one of the most heavily used sections by residents, tourism industry workers, and visitors.
The initiative is promoted by the Association for Tourism Development and Investment of La Otra Banda (ADITOP) together with the municipal district council, with the support of the La Altagracia Tourism Business Alliance (ALETA).
According to local authorities, the boulevard aims to alleviate pressure on existing roads and improve mobility between communities that depend on the Punta Cana tourist corridor. Urban and tourism growth in the area has significantly increased traffic flow in recent years.
The project has also been considered strategic by the council of La Otra Banda, which declared its construction as a priority work for the development of the district through a resolution approved in 2026, considering it an axis of road interconnection and economic expansion in the province.
Information released by municipal authorities indicates that the road would significantly reduce travel times between nearby communities and key regional tourism points, including access to Punta Cana airport and the Coral Highway.
In addition to improving connectivity, the boulevard is part of a series of initiatives that seek to support urban and tourist expansion in the east of the country, particularly in areas near Verón–Punta Cana and La Otra Banda, where new real estate and tourism investments are concentrated.
